Austin Roofs is a homeowner’s guide to roofing in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties, and a referral service. Austin Roofs is a referral service, not a roofing contractor. Your inspection and estimate come from our partner roofer, an independent contractor that we checked against the standard below. The partner inspects, quotes in writing, does the work if you hire them, and holds the warranty. You are never obligated to use them. The guide side, including the free Austin Hail Map, is yours to use with any roofer.
The referral, step by step
- You send a request by form, call or text.
- We pass it to our partner roofer within one business day. One contractor. We do not sell your request to a list of roofers who then compete for your phone.
- The partner contacts you to schedule an inspection. Roof and attic, photos dated, test squares if hail is involved. See what a real inspection includes.
- You get a written report and a line-item estimate. Both are yours, whether or not you hire anyone.
- You decide. Hire the partner, take the report to another roofer, get a second opinion from an independent inspector, or do nothing.
The vetting standard
Texas has no state roofing license (HB 3344, which would have created one, died in 2025), so “licensed” means nothing here. These are the checks we run instead, all against public records or documents the contractor provides:
- [ ] Texas entity active with the Comptroller (franchise tax status not forfeited) and the Secretary of State.
- [ ] General liability insurance certificate on file with us, current, naming the entity.
- [ ] Workers’ compensation or occupational accident coverage for the people on the roof, certificate on file.
- [ ] City of Austin contractor registration with Building & Trade Contractor Services, so permitted work can be permitted. [VERIFY]
- [ ] Written workmanship warranty, term stated, from the contractor’s entity.
- [ ] No deductible games. Contracts carry the Business & Commerce Code §27.02 deductible notice; the contractor agrees in writing never to pay, waive, absorb or rebate a deductible, and never to advertise claim handling (Insurance Code §4102.163).
- [ ] No TDI enforcement actions or Texas Attorney General actions against the entity or its principals, checked at the time of signing and re-checked yearly.
Our partner roofer is checked against the standard on this page before we send a single request. When any item stops being true, the partner is dropped and this page is updated. We also publish the how-to so you can run the same checks on any roofer, including ours.
How we get paid
The partner roofer pays us a referral fee on completed jobs. You never pay us, and the fee doesn’t change your price. You pay us nothing, at any point. If that ever changes, this paragraph changes first.
What we never do
- Install roofs, send crews, or hold a warranty. That is the contractor.
- Negotiate, file or adjust insurance claims. Illegal for a contractor under Insurance Code §4102.163, and not something we do either.
- Promote a deductible discount or a “free roof.” Class B misdemeanor under Business & Commerce Code §27.02.
- Sell or share your request with anyone other than our partner roofer.
- Publish reviews, ratings or testimonials that are not real.
- Call anyone, us or the partner, “licensed,” “certified” or “insured” beyond what the vetting line above states and the certificates on file show.
Opting out of contact
- Text: reply STOP to any message from us or the partner.
- Email: write to hello@austinroofs.com with “remove” in the subject line.
- Phone: tell whoever calls.
Within within one business day, we delete your request from our system and notify our partner roofer to stop contact. If you already have a contract with the partner, that contract is between you and them.
FAQ
Is Austin Roofs a roofing contractor?
No. We are a guide and referral service. our partner roofer, an independent Texas roofing contractor, performs the inspection, writes the estimate, does the work and holds the warranty.
Do I have to hire the partner?
No. The inspection report and estimate are yours. Take them anywhere.
Why only one roofer?
Because a list of five means five sales calls and a race to the bottom on scope. One checked contractor and a report you can take elsewhere gets you the same comparison with less pressure.
What if the partner does something wrong?
Tell us at hello@austinroofs.com. We review every complaint, and a confirmed deductible offer or claim-handling pitch ends the partnership.
